EXTENSION AND REMODELLING OF GRADE II LISTED TOWNHOUSE IN PROMINENT LOCATION

Residential Refurbishment and Extension - Project and Build Cost £1.2mil

Full internal refurbishment and two storey rear glass extension of a Grade II listed town house. The planning was achieved by being sensitive to the existing building and rather than trying to change any part of what exists we chose to instead build a new and very modern and very clearly added element to get our Client the additional accommodation that they required. Works on Listed buildings predominantly require that any original features can at any time be reasonably easily re-instated. This was the case in the master bedroom for example where behind the wall is an old (and quite horrible) fireplace which the planners would not let us remove, we therefore built in front of it. We even managed to get the planners to agree to removing a number of original mouldings which were carefully removed and given to English Heritage as artefacts. The property was finished in a very neutral way and interior design was by the Client with our aid, we think it looks really good, especially when you see what it used to look like on the existing photos.
